About Glimpse Glass and Glimpse Glass Folk
Glimpse Glass and Glimpse Glass Folk are a family businesses creating whimsical home decor and wearable art from our homes in Calgary and on Vancouver Island. All pieces are handcrafted to break the mould on traditional stained glass, using the whimsy of nature as inspiration.
Items are created using Tiffany stained glass techniques where glass pieces are hand cut, copper foiled, soldered together and then polished.

Hi! I'm Kara!
So nice to meet you, friend!
I craft whimsical 3D glass floral sculptures and wearables in Calgary, Canada. Using a combination of copper foil stained glass, copper wire and found objects, I create unexpected pieces that break the rules of traditional glass.
I use my 15 years of communications and public relations education and experience to introduce new eyes to the magic of glass via social media (260k+ followers between Instagram, Facebook and TikTok). I also have a book! "Stained Glass for Beginners" was published by Leisure Arts in Oct 2021.
I love teaching, and my background in media coaching and communications has given me the tools and experience to break down the stained glass process and share it with YOU!
I also really love cats. Cats, travel, glass... and chatting (so don't be shy!).
All items are crafted in my home studio where I hide, do art and hang out with my two young girls and kitty assistants✌️.

Astrid has been working with stained glass for about ten years, having started out with her daughter Kara in their previous home studio on Vancouver Island, BC. With a unique creative perspective, Astrid loves to work on creative projects of all types, from stained glass, to carving and papercrafts.
Before joining Glimpse Glass, John worked for many years in the construction field as a welder and carpenter. His welding skills and knack for perfection have proved extremely useful in cutting and soldering glass. When not working on glass, John spends every moment possible outdoors.
